هدف البحث الحالي إلى: التعرف على مشكلات المرضى طويلي الإقامة في مستشفيات مدينة جدة، والكشف عن دور الأخصائي الاجتماعي مع المرضى طويلي الإقامة في مستشفيات مدينة جدة. تم استخدام منهج المسح الاجتماعي، والاستبانة كأداة لجمع لبيانات، تكونت العينة من (60) مريضاً من المرضى طويلي الإقامة، وقد توصل البحث للعديد من النتائج من أبرزها: أن المرضى طويلي الإقامة يعانون من العديد من المشكلات، يأتي في مقدمتها: شعور المريض بالعجز، وشعوره باضطراب الحياة الاجتماعية لأسرته بسبب مرضه، ومعاناته من سرعة الغضب والانفعال، ومعاناته من الشعور بالإحباط، ووجود صعوبة في المشاركة في المناسبات الاجتماعية، والشعور بالألم بسبب نظرة الشفقة والعطف من الآخرين، واضطرار الأسرة للاستغناء عن بعض احتياجاتها الضرورية. أظهرت النتائج أن الأخصائي الاجتماعي يقوم بالعديد من الأدوار مع المرضى طويلي الإقامة، ويأتي في مقدمتها: توجيه المريض نحو أهمية الالتزام بالعلاج، وتوعيته بطبيعة مرضه، والعمل على رفع روحه المعنوية، والمرور اليومي على المريض لمتابعة حالته، والعمل على تخفيف مشاعر التوتر والضيق لديه، وتوجيهه نحو الجهات التي تقدم مساعدات مالية للمرضى، وتهيئته للخروج من المستشفى، وتقديم النصائح اللازمة عندما تواجه مواقف صعبة، ومساعدته في حل المشكلات المترتبة على المرض.
The current research aims to: identify the problems of long-staying patients in Jeddah hospitals, and to explore the role of social workers with long-term patients in Jeddah hospitals. The social survey method and questionnaire were used as a tool for collecting data. The sample consisted of (60) long-stay patients. The research found several results, including that long-term patients suffer from many problems, including feeling helpless, feels that his family's social life is disturbed because of his illness, suffers from quick anger and irritability, suffers from feelings of frustration, has difficulty participating in social events, feels pain because of the looks of pity and sympathy from others, and the family is forced to give up some of its necessary needs, The results showed that the social worker performs many roles with long-term patients, foremost among them: guiding the patient towards the importance of adhering to treatment, raising their awareness about the nature of their illness, working to boost their morale, conducting daily visits to monitor their condition, alleviating feelings of stress and distress, directing them to organizations that provide financial assistance to patients, preparing them for discharge from the hospital, offering necessary advice when facing difficult situations, and assisting them in resolving issues arising from the illness.
